Experienced Voice Engineer

The Company:

Voyager Internet is a leading New Zealand provider of home and business internet and communication services. Our services are used by more than 50,000 customers across New Zealand and our product portfolio includes broadband, VoIP and Cloud PBX, domain names, email hosting and cloud servers.

The Role:

We’re looking for a voice guru who has some great FreeSWITCH experience. You’ll be responsible for managing the Voyager voice infrastructure, capacity planning, performance analysis and tuning. You’ll also document systems processes and products and perform maintenance of systems (including patching and upgrades).

Who are we looking for?

We’re looking for an experienced voice engineer ideally in a carrier setting. You will be able to create, manage and deploy individual components of the voice infrastructure, be able to work independently and escalate issues as required and be able to work to milestones. Confidence in the following areas is highly desirable:

  • VoIP protocols including SIP
  • Open-source telephony software (especially FreeSWITCH) in a carrier setting
  • Experience in voice rating and billing
  • Voice provisioning operational procedures
  • Relational DBs (MySQL / PostgreSQL)
  • Regular deployments in a highly-available production environment
  • Applying DevOps practices including infrastructure as code
