Voyager Internet is a leading New Zealand provider of home and business internet and communication services. Our services are used by more than 50,000 customers across New Zealand and our product portfolio includes broadband, VoIP and Cloud PBX, domain names, email hosting and cloud servers.
In this varied role, you’ll be responsible for managing the voice team together with analysing, architecting and overseeing Voyager’s existing and proposed voice telecommunication systems. You will be responsible for leading implementation efforts across the enterprise and ensuring that voice projects are executed according to design, within project timeframes, and budget. Working closely with the product team you will develop and recommend the strategic direction for the real time communications product set by maximising the functionality of Voyager’s carrier-grade voice infrastructure.
Who are we looking for?
We’re looking for an experienced voice engineer with a passion for all things technical, a curious and analytical mind, and the ability to lead on architecture, best practice and helping people perform at their best. You will either have existing experience leading a team or are looking to take the next step in your career and move up to a leadership position where you can effect change through a team of experienced engineers. Confidence in the following areas is highly desirable:
- VoIP protocols including SIP
- Open-source telephony software (especially Freeswitch) in a carrier setting
- Experience in voice rating and billing
- Voice provisioning operational procedures
- Relational DBs (MySQL / PostgreSQL)
- Regular deployments in a highly-available production environment
- Applying DevOps practices including infrastructure as code
