Voyager News Media

AI is currently a major buzzword in the business world, evoking both fear and excitement. However, its impact on New Zealand businesses remains largely unknown. Given the vast potential to capitalize on AI, a deep dive into its business applications is essential. This presented the perfect opportunity for Voyager’s CEO, Deidre Steyn, to discuss the benefits of adopting AI in Voyager’s technology, encouraging others to embrace this transformative innovation.

The combined efforts of the Voyager and Business Canterbury teams created an engaging networking event, featuring an insightful presentation from Voyager CEO Deidre Steyn. She highlighted the benefits of adopting AI, explored its potential through specific NZ use cases, and emphasized the importance of data security in AI usage.

Held at the Voyager Christchurch office, the event attracted 80-100 representatives from 65 businesses. The evening spurred lively discussions on the transformative potential of AI and its ability to revolutionize various industries and business operations. Attendees shared the benefits they had experienced from integrating AI into their business practices and personal lives and discussed the exciting prospects for AI’s future development and strategies to address concerns about data security and job displacement.

One of the use cases discussed, was the adoption of AI right here at Voyager. We have incorporated AI into our processes to enhance efficiency and customer service. An AI chatbot classifies customer calls and tickets, enabling data-driven decisions and identifying areas for improvement. Our approach showed AI does not necessarily eliminate jobs but removes menial tasks, freeing up employees for higher-level tasks and strategic work.

Deidre also announced further integration of AI at Voyager in our upcoming “Domain Genie” which works to address a common pain point in hosting, by helping businesses choose domain names using AI.

Following this presentation, three lucky attendees won spot prizes, including a variety of tech-gear and essentials thanks to Ingram Micro, Fortinet, Logitech, Westcon Comstor and InternetNZ, and one lucky winner, went home with 1 Free Year of Home Fibre Max Broadband courtesy of our team at Voyager!

Here at Voyager, we believe it is crucial to keep all NZ businesses at the forefront of technological developments, such as AI, especially given the efficiencies it can provide in times of economic uncertainty and cost sensitivity.

Watch Voyager CEO Deidre Steyn below speak further to crucial points to consider when it comes to AI in the workplace.
